Has anyone successfully upgraded a Vaio SZ650 to Vista SP1?
I do not have it available as an optional update on Windows Update. I am because apparently there is an SP1issue with the Sigmatel 6.10.5511.0 driver - I assume this is why I am not offered the upgrade.
Should I try installing the standalone SP1 upgrade? Am I likely to have headaches with the sound driver? Is there a newer sigmatel driver available (couldnt find one on esupport.sony)

Even after updating my drivers, I still couldn't find SP1 in WU, so I downloaded the standalone. Problems? None!! Sony doesn't offer updated drivers for your machine?

I have the driver 6.10.5614.0 version downloaded from sony for my FZ-190E. I had installed SP1 thru windows update with no problems.

ss_blake, just install the v6.10.5614.0 Sigmatel Audio drivers on your VGN-SZ650 laptop from the STDAUD-01487701-US.EXE package and you should be able to obtain Vista SP1 from Windows Update.
