    Hi
I have a sony Vaio SZ61 that came with Windows Vista Business (swedish). I have been waiting for Vista SP1 to show up for some time (see my other post). After doing some research I removed the sigmatel sound utility and rebooted. After that SP1 showed up in windows update. I downlaoded and installed the SP without problems.

I got to the welcome/login screen OK. Entered my credentials to logon to the desktop, but then the screen turned black. The only thing showing is the cursor.

The computer seem to work, its just the screen not working. Probably some problem with the video driver. I was able to start the PC in safe mode and revert back the system to pre-SP1.

Ive tested using both the nvidia and the integrated video chip, with the same result.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    /fredrik

You could try to change your display driver to standard SVGA (800x600)before applying SP1 (uninstall both the internal and the nvidia display driver).

Then if you manage to boot on SP1, re-install the display drivers...

    Good luck!
