I have an SZ120P and clean installed Vista Ultimate a couple of weeks ago. 3 or 4 times now, I had it hibernated and Vista suddenly booted out of hibernation for no apparent reason while the lid was closed! Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? I've never seen a laptop boot up out of nowhere like this while it was turned off. Bizarre....

Do you have an external mouse connected? Vista seems to have much better Advanced Power Management drivers than previous OS's. I saw this because if I put my SZ120 to sleep I can awake it simply be tapping the mouse button on my trackball. I didn't at first, but now I actually like this feature.

No mouse connected. It's not asleep either, it's fully turned off in hibernation mode.

I'd check out your BIOS and see if any wake-on-whatever options are on. I'd also look and see about the settings in BIOS to turn on at a certain time.
It seems to me that many BIOS-based wake up programs (like settings to wake up at 8am or whatnot) are buggy. My last computer enjoyed waking up three or four times at night when my BIOS were set to wake it only at 7AM...buggy indeed. -
There is no wake up feature in the BIOS. I did read an article in one of the computer rags today where someone else was having the same problem. It totally befuddles me how it would make a computer wake up while it's turned off....

On the SZ once you have Vaio Control Center installed, there's an option to select what opening the lid will do. I have mine set to Nothing but the other option is to wake from Standby or Hibernate. Given that the lid isn't the most tightly closed thing..a jiggle might accidentally trigger the wake up...make sure you have this turned off.

Where is this setting? I can't find it. Mine has never been able to come back from sleep while just opening the lid, but I would like it to. However, I've never seen one where that will bring it back form hibernation.
Vista Spontaneously Booting While in Hibernation??
