    Hi all,

    What is the best option?

    1. Keep vista on my brand new notebook, which i think is run sooo slow.

    2. Change to XP, so it would run lighting fast, wth no bloatware to slow it down and at least I know how to use it (i remember saying i don't know how to use xp when it first came out).
It might be hard to find all the drivers for xp and it doesn't come with a backup vista CD (I have to make my own) if I really want to use vista in the future.

    3. Buy a new HD to install XP and Keep the vista HD.

Let me know what you think.
    Thanks.

its not hard to find drivers for xp. You can get xp running in no time. But know this: you can not get the power management to work correctly and also your fn keys will not work.

Now, as you say when xp came out lot of us didn't want it. I wanted personally to stick to my super fast windows 98se :) today no one wants the Se I guess!

most windows vista problems (for me all) that I had with my laptop were fixed with the latest vista service pack 1. Did you install that?

    My advice:
do a clean vista install, update it with sp1 and just enjoy.
For me my vista is faster then my xp on this same machine
    and runs damn stable :)

I know enough to be dangerous, smart enough to admit it.
My 8204 is 1 1/2 yrs old. I transferred everything to the C drive, deleted the D drive, and then converted C to NTFS.
I am extremely comfortable with XP Pro and Office 2003. They are on the 8204 and my 2 home desktops. But now that Vista's learning curve (aka "bugs") has had some time, and SP1 is out, should I convert to Vista?
Should it be an "upgrade" or a new install. Would there be any issues (aka "drivers") with the 8204 and Vista? If so, any quick and easy as to where the drivers would be? Acer website? Help and direction from anyone who has experience in this would be greatly appreciated. I am not a geek, but not a novice.
    Regards -
