I just got my FW-290 yesterday but I want to play some of the newer games like Call of Duty or Crysis. I was just wondering would it run better with Vistas which has directx10 which also uses alot more memory, or would downgrading to XP have a better effect for runing newer games

Hi, i recommend not to downgrade. Even on my system fz190 i played call of duty with no problems which is older and has lower configuration than this. It might be faster but dx10 is more better than dx9. Most of time if u downgrade u might not find drivers. Just clean up the junk given by Sony in the computer. Downgrading i dont think its a good idea but its ur choice.

I would not downgrade to xp, vista is a much better OS in terms of stability and power management.

If you bought the 3650, it seems to me you'd be fine in Vista. An FW owner can most likely tell you for sure, though.

XP does not really yield any performance boost anymore since SP1 to Vista. If you have 2 Gb of RAM, you should be fine with Vista for games(3 would be ideal).
