    Hello all

Searched the forum for the answer to this but can't find info.
I have a VPCZ13M9E/B (UK model) that has two 64GB SSD's but the raid controler advises that this can take four SSD's. Does anyone know if this is true and where to get the additional SSD's. I know they are Samsung SSD

    Thanks in advance

If you open up your Z, you'll find the SSD's right under the mousepad. In any case, you'll have already have 2 SSDs there. The triple and quad SSDs are actually 2 PHYSICAL drives but 3/4 LOGICAL drives which means at least 1 physical SSD has 2 logical SSDs on the same PCB. Which means you're going to have to buy them direct from Sony for a TON of cash (not to mention new cables) for these Samsung drives with who knows what controller which i'd advise not to do. Instead, you can either replace them with 2 SSD's aftermarket (1.8" drives taken out of their enclosures) or augment them by replacing your ODD with a hard drive caddy and using any old 2.5" HDD/SSD

Looks like I'll have to wait until the price of SSD's drops some more. Won't be going direct to Sony as you are correct, they charge a ton. I've added a 64GB expresscard SSD for additional storage though.

Off topic, but may I ask which expresscard SSD you are using and what transfer speeds you get for read/write?

To tag along to AndreN, would you recommend the Express Card SSD? I've heard they can run hot. I'm wondering if you can feel this on the left palmrest or not.

I got one from memoryc.com just a Team Group inc 64GB one. It don't run hot, and I just use it for additional storage, not performance or speed issues.

On two occasions windows show the drive as non formatted, just have to eject tna re-insert and all ok. I slight worry though,
