    Hi

I have installed a WD scorpio black drive wd3200bekt in my FZ and reloaded it using the recovery CD all was working fine till last night then I noticed the drive makes a clicking sound intermittent wile surfing the net like a head parking noise but the drive dont spin down!

Is the drive about to fail as the computer runs fine most of the time but ocassionaly stalls certain programs like msn or explorer for about 30secs? i thought it was power management I even tried to install WDs update for clicky drives but it did not need the update yet im still gettin clicking.

I had a seagate 7200.3 that went down after a few hours of use produceing a rattle and runing slow.

Im begining to think im having bad luck with drives or sony vaios dont like generic hardware!

I own two WD Scorpios (Blue) and they both make that intermittent noise that you speak of. I have run Western Digital's diagnostic software, and the two drives passed the tests. It seems pretty normal.

There's a lot of talk about this clicking on the forums. I experienced it for the first few weeks, and then it went away. I noticed that if I run HD Tune, it stops clicking for some time - I think that as long as the drive is active and spinning, the clicking doesn't happen.
