I'm not quit sure how the WWAN works on the Z series. From what I understand is that you turn on your bluetooth on your phone and the bluetooth on the computer and you can use the internet service on your cell phone on your computer, correct?!

How does this work exactly? I wanna get 3G internet on my cellphone and use my phone's internet on my laptop when I'm at airports or in need of internet on the go.

An explanation would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    From Victor Chen's Z590 review:
The Z series also has built-in WWAN, but it is locked to Sprint's EVDO network in the US. Virtua reports unlocking the WWAN in a Japanese Z model.

The WWAN is in the Smartfi application. It will connect you to the SPRINT 3g network. You can toggle this on and off. It has nothing to do with Bluetooth or your phone.

Of course if your phone supports Bluetooth as a modem, that is you other option.

Otherwise you must sign up for Sprint broadband at 79 for one year of 59 for two with a one month trial period where you can cancel for free.

Well I'm from Canada so Sprint doesn't work for me. For us it's either Rogers or Fido.

I think Canadian Z users report the Z555 does not have the built-in WWAN.

If the phone service is GSM, I don't think it will. So far the modem that is built-in is the EVDO Rev A (Sprint in the US).

What about the japanese version of the Z? There's a thread that says it can be unlocked but it only speaks about using it in Europe, not North America...

Yea I'd like to know as well if it will work with the Japanese version. By the way how do you tell the difference between the Japanese version or the American version?

Even if you have WWAN, you need to sign up for service. I had Bell's on my TZ, free for a month, but did not activate it. I think it would be more economical to sign up the internet service at airports (a lot of airports have it). The thread on Japanese WANN talk about buying a 3G card for the z.
