So I purchased an SZ fr my wife for Christmas. I was playing with it today and installed my cingular GSM chip from my computer. I use the cingular pcmcia card and was amazed at the differnce in sppeds. I ran a speed test on speak easy.net. THe speeds on the sony were 95kbps down and 82kbps up. I then ran the same test on my acer with the cingular card. it was 1359/259kbps. That is a hugh difference! So my question is, is it possible to uninstall the Sony cingular software and then you the cingular pc card. or is there maybe an update or something I am missing from sony?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Some of this difference could be due to more interference from other devices in the SZ -- especially since it's a smaller machine and has more stuff crammed in, I can't imagine the software makes that huge of a difference. You could however do an uninstall of the Sony default software and reinstall something Cingular provided to you and see what happens.
