I am a newbie to Sony Vaio series laptop. I would like you guys shed some light for me to get a suitable for me.

    My requirements are as follow:

    Screen size : 11 inch
Weight with battery : below 1.3kg

Very simple to narrow it down, given those requirements -- you're looking at either a Vaio TZ or Vaio TT (TT is the newer model).

Yep, about 100 grams lighter. 1.2 vs 1.3 kilo depending on you configuration ofcourse. My config (normal HDD with the dvd drive) is 1.19 kilo on my scale. If you go for the dual SSD without dvd it should be lighter.

The TZ comes with a 5800mah battery while the TT comes with a 5400mah battery. However, the TT has newer hardware components and should be more energy efficient. At least according to Sony ;) All I know is I can browse the web using wifi for more then 6 hours on my TZ.

The TT is faster however, newer cpu, faster memory, the videochip is a whole lot faster (including HD decoding), hdmi output and so on.

I still like the looks of the TZ, the newer rounded off design of the TT just doesnt appeal to me.

In addition, TZ has limit at 2GB RAM.
Very hot at bottom on right side where the CPU and heatsink located.
It even won't cool down when fixed by Sony Recall.
However, as Sick Nick, I like TZ look.

    TZ185N comes with U7600, 2GB RAM and 100GB HDD
CAD $1400 is about US $1100 now.
I think it is a bit high.

You can try the notebook outlet at sonystyle.com (the last option on the drop down menu when you scroll to the notebook section of the main site). They do have a few refurbished TZs for less than $1000. But I think the refurbished ones comes with only a 90 day warranty.

If you are looking for a new TZ I think that laptopsinc.com sells them for the cheapest I've seen ($1017). I have listed the link below but you might want to call to see if they will be willing to ship outside of the US.
