If you follow the first little part of the guide in my sig (beside windows xp x32) on creating a bootable ISO, it will tell you how to install xp on a sata hard drive. The rest of the guide is machine dependent, so I wouldn't recommend following it step by step, but the overall process will be simmilar.

Yeah try a search on the forum...shouldn't be too hard to find.
In short...it probably has to do with your SATA setting. If you got Vista installed with your lappy chances are your SATA operation is set to AHCI in your BIOS, check that and if it's the case switch to ATA/IDE before running your XP setup. It should run fine and when the setup is finished you can look for AHCI drivers to switch back to AHCI....just look on the Sony site for em.
Are you running anything like Intel Matrix storage manager?

There should be a setting for SATA operation. You dont see any of ATA, IDE, SATA, or AHCI anywhere in yout BIOS?
