    Want to upgrade my SA from DVD to Blu-ray

    Would I void warrenty or could I send this into Sony to do?

    save your old DVD and when will need Sony official let's replace back

    What he said, although sometimes they don't mind... if you swap your DVD out for blu-ray and then suddenly the CPU dies, I think by law they have to honor, because your actions didn't make the CPU die. Depends what country, but push comes shove, just replace back your DVD drive.

    Could I send my laptop into Sony so they can actually upgrade it themselves?

    Probably not but it's very simple to do yourself, or go to a Sony Store (or another service-oriented PC hardware store). It's only 2 screws ,slide out, replace the front cover, slide in, 2 screws back. Very simple.

    So I can go into a Sony store and they can do it?
    I'm not that technical so I don't think i'll be able to do it, I've read some threads and read something about the lens head being really tricky to remove without breaking it.

    It works like this, you slide out the entire unit. You never have to touch any of the internal components. But if the Sony Store has a service desk and spare parts, they should be able to do it. Or give them a call and ask if they will replace it if you bring in your unit and the new bluray drive.
