Hey does anyone know of a way where i could purchase an sz in the states and be able to obtain some kind of warranty for it in Canada? (i have some relatives in the states - if that helps). I called in at Sony and said there is no way i can get warranty on it, even if i purchase a viable one in Canada or get my relatives to purchase it and transfer ownership here. My reasoning is that i've been waiting for the new SZ's to reach us here on canada and sonystyle.ca has currently added the sz-780 on their site. however the price is $2000 (300$ difference!) and you don't get to customize it, so its relatively basic. So if anyone has any possible suggestion about getting warranty, i'll be more than happy to hear!

really the only way i see that you can use your warranty is to have the computer registered through one of your relatives in the USA. If there is an issue, somehow get the notebook to them and they can take care of it for you.

I work at Circuit City and that is what we've been told. Even most store warranties do not cover you out of countries.
