I just picked up the Sony VGN-FW139E/H .

It has a 1 year limited warrant.

    How does that work ?

If there is a problem, do I just mail it in (paid by Sony ?) and they send it back.

I am debating their extended warranty for 2 years but I am trying to keep costs down and understand the difference.

Since I bought it with Amex, they double the warranty which basically means they will pay for any warranty work year 2.

    Thooughts ?

How did you all go ?

Any experiences with work done just with the basic 1 year limited warranty ?

    Thanks!

If you paid with Amex, I'd consider their doubling of the warranty sufficient, unless you happen to be accident prone, in which case you need coverage for accidental breakage. :)

I make it a policy to NEVER buy extended warranties on ANYTHING. The money I save by never purchasing one MORE than pays for the few times I've had to get something repaired.
