it amazes me that sony online chat support is now trying to convince everybody to buy the companion DVD
not much use for me since it doesnt support my older S5 series model
its their new tactic to further extort we the 'poor' customers with bad/poor unoptimised drivers they provide
i think i will soon get out of the sony game/business
i dont care how much more sexy their laptops can and will get
its just too much trouble trying to get their/sony computer to work
that is supposed to be their job not ours

    hi there,

I can safely say that, optimzing is rather, a minior issue to them. This is rather , a fact. They have no time for such optimizing, etc. This is simply because, they rather like to update with the stable, reliable drivers, etc.

In fact, sony's selling point is not the fast-optimize, etc, all those famous companies sell their products for "newbies" anyway.
So,, Perhaps 1/100, like us, like to upgrade, optimize, etc. Whats the point for them to sell 1 to 100? they rather aim for 99 newbies who doesnt know how to install damn things, or even wtf is going around with computer hardwares, etc.

The truth is, a lot of computer users dont know crapp, trust me, I'm a computer science phd student, and guess what, we still dont know much about computers. If somebody likes to optimize, then they will do so by themselves, or try their best to find the driver that is 'optimized'.

Or, put it this way, no Windows at all. Pure Linux with their own configuration would be the true-geeks or true-worrier.

The fact that we are using Vista, xp, all those craps are not because they are good, because they are simply easy-to-setup and easy-to-play with. Simple.

If u want a real-optimization, then get a linux, with all-you-can-eat haxing codes and scripts to do it urself. In fact, I have never ever ever seen any drivers for Windows, for such a high-performance PC, devices, routers. or even a 10G network drivers. No market demand for windows for that.

Bill succeeded not because of his code. but, Bill knew that newbies like us will suck it into his system, because its the easiest OS, drivers, etc at that time.... .

    hi5!
it still amazes me that sony online chat support is now trying to convince everybody to buy the companion DVD when all the needed drivers are already posted online. in fact i was told the online drivers are meant to be updates to the companion DVD and that i still need to first install the ones on the DVD for my system to work correctly. can u contain that

true, I'd probably say, its the lack-of or bad customer services...
I know how u feel when things just dont work out right. But to me, I do not think finding out the optimized-drivers, etc, are not so hard for the users.

At least to me, buying dvd companion may not be any good idea. but rather, for ppl who want to access offline (without them going to driver websites)

    cheers.
