This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Is the Web Cam in the F2 Vaio just really bad or is it a software/driver issue? My lower quality spec'd Logitech has a much better picture.

    I'm guessing it's either the camera or the driver since the image quality seems to be the same whether using Skype or the Arc Soft software.

    It's really bad, particularly in low light. No matter what I do, colors are muted and sepia-toned. I've tried uninstalling Arcsoft, tinkering with settings for hours, and everything I tried was even worse than the poor-quality stock settings. A $519 ThinkPad E420 has much better picture quality. Sorry, but Sony just dropped the ball on the F2's webcam (particularly offensive because it's a multimedia machine). Nothing to be done about it so far as I can tell.

    Thanks, and that's what I was affraid of... At least it's not a feature important to me, but as you say, a multimedia machine, in this day and age, outta do a decent job, this one doesn't qualify as decent...
