Hi,
I got my new VAIO S 15 (Core i7, RAM 12GB, SSD, Nvidia 2GB), I noticed the graphic is little lagging at the screen after the welcome screen, there is fading but it is happening slow, everything else is fine so far.
It should not happen in Nvidia 2GB.
I'm using Speed mode.
Anybody who has VAIO S 15 running into that kind of issue?

I get that sometimes after a boot, all other transition effects are lagging too (opening/closing/minimizing windows etc.). I haven't bothered much with trying to figure out why it's happening, a reboot seems to fix it.

What's your graphics score in Windows index? -
(1) Your discrete GPU will ONLY be used for graphically-intensive (generally 3D) applications. Even if you select it in the NVIDIA utility as the preferred device, you can't FORCE Windows to use it. On other machines (e.g., Lenovo Y470) you could do so, but not on the Sony. In other words: it's not being used for general desktop/system animations.
(2) AFAIK Windows Experience Index can't see the 640m. The score you're seeing is for the Intel HD 4000. I haven't seen any evidence yet that anyone can get it to work in WEI. If you're curious about how your card is performing use a utility like GPU-Z, MSI Afterburner, or a graphics benchmarking app.
(3) The lagginess you describe sounds exactly to me like it's a CPU issue, caused by services/processes loading at startup. You might consider going into Computer Management and switching non-essential service to "Manual" rather than "Automatic" to give you a little more zip at startup!

But in point 3, I'm not sure, I don't have any software, my system is still clean. -

ARGH, really? I was betting it was a software issue. Guess you killed that hypothesis!
Hmmm, feel like tinkering with msconfig and try selective/diagnostic startup?

I have this problem before, but I do the following
in Nvidia Control Panel>Manage 3D settings
Preferred graphics processor : High-performance NVIDIA processor(When you switch to Stamina,it will change to Integrated graphics)
in Settings > Antialiasing - FXAA > Select "ON" -
-
But I'm very sure we can test it in both manually.
Right click on command prompt and run as administrator, then type 'winsat d3d'.
This will run the graphics assessment, and will provide you with the result at the end.
I can also select from nvidia control panel to run intel or nvidia by manually adding the winsat.exe file.
Here are the results :
Intel HD4000
GT640M LE STOCK (500/900)
GT640M LE BIOS MOD (1000/1000)

But that winsat.exe only fix WEI score, but doesn't fix my slow motion Welcome, do you have slow motion Welcome?Attached Files:
