So i'm thinking i will go the direction of a wenger backpack for my new Viao Fw, BUT!!

I really cant seem to find any in canada... where are these sold?

Also which ones do you guys think would be best to support my FW ?

Should i get a insert of something if i end up having to go for the 17 inch bag so theres not too much wiggle room ?

Would a simple laptop sleeve help with that?

I have their 15.4 in backpack, there's a little room on the top. I think you should be able to fit your 16.1 FW in there.

but should be able too is something i would like to avoid incase it doesnt :( just incase i have to order online or something like that it would be a hassle to have to send back etc..

Does anyone who has a Fw have a backpack for their computer ?

would prefer a backpack since i will be hauling around books etc on the train

I think it would be a perfect fit for you FW if the Wenger 15.4 in backpack is tall enough.

Why not go visit your local Staples to actually try it out?

The 17 in. one would be a bit too wide IMHO.

cant try it out yet since the FW is still in shipping, but still would seem kind of odd for me to walk in with my laptop and try putting it into the backpack.. wouldnt it ? lol

If you don't feel like walking into the shop with your laptop (nothing wrong with that) compre it to a file or something like that and try at staples.
I think most people end up using messenger bags for laptops, also they'll fit much better when you end up wearing a suit.

Now, putting a 16" laptop in a 17" bag won't leave a lot of space. If you get a sleave it fits fine.

In fact, my 13,3" SZ gets carried aroung in a 17" messenger bag (Wenger), however it is vertical :D
Also, 16" isn't = 16", the laptops will vary slightly in size reagarding the manufacturer.
If you are that unsure, look at the dimensions of your FW and a 17" laptop. if you've got 2cm or 1" left its no problem, a little "wriggle room" as you said, just put a packet of tissues alongside.l They are handy and a nice cussion.
In a worst case, you can calculate the dimensions of laptops using Pythagoras...and the aspect ratio...

I have a Wenger Swissgear Star and it is tight for a 15.4" notebook - the corners of the computer are very close to the zip. Other Wenger bags may have different dimensions. If you don't want to take the computer to the shop then take a tape measure and check the dimensions.
