Hi Guys
I just wanted to know how heavily people rely on the bluetooth facility on their Vaio notebooks. Personally I use it every day to sync my emails, contacts and calendar for my Samsung Blackjack using Windows Mobile Device Center (the equivalent of Activesync for Vista), I have a Microsoft Notebook Presenter 8000 mouse and I use an Aliph Jawbone bluetooth headset for Skype.
I've always been a fan of bluetooth devices; especially mice because you don't have to have a stupid RF usb dongle sticking out of your notebook. Just wanted to see what everyone else is using out there and if there are any nice devices that are bluetooth enabled worthwhile checking out?
Also, for anyone that has the Vaio TZ vista install do you mind letting me know the bluetooth stack version and manufacturer? I am pretty certain it is Widcomm, but for some reason the one I installed off their website seems to look slightly different to the one I had prior to me using the P1 recovery disc.
Cheers
Saj

I'm new to Bluetooth but I tried using my cell phone (simple Verizon cell phone with Bluetooth) but I could not quite get it to work. Maybe the Bluetooth capabilities on my cell phone only allow for sending and receiving contacts...not pictures which I hoped for.
I have a wireless mouse but now that you mention Bluetooth mice that sure would be nice...no USB to plug in while using the mouse...but would there still be a way to turn off the mouse if you're not using it, like some button or something? -
Using MS Wireless Laser Mouse 8000. Just love it. Has a rechargeable battery and a battery recharge pad that you just put the mouse on when its running out on battery.

Most wireless mice have a switch to turn them off. My one goes to sleep if there is no activity for a long period of time, and when you turn off the laptop and the mouse isn't "paired" with anything it turns off itself. It would be nice to have a mouse the size of the microsoft presenter 8000 with built in battery and recharge station, but I guess its a compromise with size and portability. Most good desktop mice by logitech come with a charger.
I just use two energizer platinum AAA batteries for my mouse and get over a month of heavy daily usage with it. Mind you I hardly use the built in laser pointer and presenter keys facility which use more power. -

I have my hp printer, cell phone, BT mouse as of right now ...

Yeah I would love to have my printer do that if it was supported. I bought a multifunction Canon while I had my SZ running XP only to find after 3 months of owning it and getting my TZ it isn't compatible with Vista....
Great move Canon... "We regret to inform you that this model is not going to be supported by Vista"
The damn thing is 3 months old and Vista has been out longer than that! go figure...
Having said that, my D Link USB wireless N adapter said it was Vista compliant on the box, but when you install it you only can run it in G mode and not the advertised N draft... Oh well... -
You have a picture of that mouse? -
Nevermind, its this nice looking mouse, which I somehow am considering

I only use bluetooh for mice also. I used to use it to transfer pictures between my phone and the laptop, but I have a USB phone which is just as easy and I don't do it often.
As for bluetooth mice, you should concider the Microsoft Presenter Mouse 8000 which you can buy here.
Its performance is great, it's very comfortable, there are back and forward buttons, side scrolling, multimedia buttons, presentation buttons and even a laser pointer!
You would neve be disapointed with it. -
personally, i don't use the dongle, too, because the convenience outweigh the usefulness of the additional features. -

Agreed with Stevierg. Running in vista you will get all the features once you install Microsoft intellipoint. I remember when I had my SZ with xp pro and no microsoft dongle the only feature "disabled" was the graphical quick window switch when you click down on the scroll wheel.
In Vista everything works... quick switch (if you use aero interface you can use the scroll wheel to roll through the Winkey + tab GUI interface), the magnifying glass works and so do all of the presenter buttons on the bottom including audio controls. -
