Really, is there anything we can all do to pay back Sony for the way they treat their customers...

    How about a BOYCOTT!!!

But really its not fear the way Sony treats us...

What have they been doing for the past 6 months prior Vista...

Big business doesn't give a sh*t about you or me, All they're worried about is the almighty dollar and they don't care what they have to do, Or who they have to mislead to get it, They're all sitting in their offices thinking "well lets design this and offer no support for it even though we know we're going to need software upgrades for this sh*t to work right"
    LOL.
Funny thing is I don't even own a Sony. Don't even plan to upgrade to Vista. But the same principle applies to all manufacturers. THEY ALL NEW that there were still things that needed to be done for a flawless release, but they dont care. We still buy it.
I wasnt being sarcastic in my last post, So i hope you didnt take it that way.

Then at least, they shouldn't release some part of the drivers thinking on the release day. What people expects when they install these is to get a working notebook with at least all the devices detected and working. When I see that they provide roxio or media whatever updates while the camera drivers for the sz or the fingerprints or some other prime functions are still not working, that is not normal.
I totally agree that they won't care about people complaining as far as they know that we're buying their stuff. Anyway that's not an excuse.

Come on ... I think it's unreasonable. You can't blame Sony for not updating drivers for older systems at 12 midnight (or before) on the day Vista is released. They did it pretty quickly (w/in 48 hours), so I'd say it wasn't bad.

And how many people other than some folks here are going to upgrade to Vista on day one? Day 7? Not many.

So I think your anger is misplaced. Vista was technically beta until November, and Sony got drivers out within a reasonable timeframe after the OS was released. What more do you want?

    stop *****ing,

only business had access to full versions of legit versions of vista before jan.30, do you own a business? did you need the drivers? no.

vista is out, go download the drivers on the site, can't figure it out? too bad...

Despite what you may think about 'big business', I'd wager that most every successful corporation, Sony very much included, cares a great deal about their overall, and individual, customer service reputation. I've always had very positive experiences when I've dealt with Sony's customer service reps, and have been surprised at how far they've gone to rectify the idiosyncratic problems I've been upset about regarding their products.

It is fun to whine on the internet though. Full marks!

Actually I was referring to their lack of driver support for their laptops VAIO's.

I dont know about their other products or customer service.
Sony is an excellent corporation. One of the best in the world. They are very innovative. Dont get me wrong. But they have never really been good at the software aspects.

Even during the long lived life of XP, Sony didnt always upgrade their drivers.
Thats why laptopvideo2go.com, guru3d.com and Sony NotebookreviewForum exist.

You are lucky all drivers for your model are out.
sony posted only 3 drivers for my model till date

I bet once all the Vista hype dies down. sony will never release any driver updates again ever.
    !!!!Our Typical Sony!!!

Felt good to get that out! Even though i don't think i had the right to complain considering the fact that i wont be upgrading to Vista anytime soon, and i don't own a Sony. (did get the express upgrade though) Think I'll Wait awhile, MCE is running great!
My expressed opinions were of a general nature not directed directly at Sony, And we all know what they say about opinions.

You're absolutely wrong: MSDN subscriber, developer even universities have access to full version of legit Vista long before Jan.30.

If they own Sony notebooks, they need desperately Vista drives since end of November 2006.

Vote with your dollar. If Sony hasn't lived up to your expectations, simply avoid buying another sony laptop. I won't be anytime soon. ;) The specs are good, looks are great. But support is hit and miss and build quality is marginal IMO.

Heh. The other day I was thinking about how much I miss tearing the perforation off of dot matrix printer paper.
