My VGN-SZ300 notebook equipped with an nVidia card has two options for the LCD refresh rate - 59Hz & 60Hz.

My other notebooks' LCD refresh rates are 60Hz. My 23" SONY LCD & 19" NEC desktop LCD monitors both have refresh rate of 60Hz. I know that 60Hz is the standard rate and never saw 59Hz as a refresh rate for an LCD.

My Q is, "Why did Sony include 59Hz?" Is it just a bug, or does it have special uses?"

I've found that my wife's new Toshiba equipped with a Radeon also offers a 59Hz refresh rate. Hmm
