Hi,
I'd like to buy Sony VAIO F12 (820QM processor 1.73GHz), it has everything I'm looking for, Core i7 processor 8M L3 Cache, Full HD Display, cute design with backlit keyboard.
What do you say? is it a good choice?
What is Pros and Cons?
So appreciated.

Maybe check in the (admittedly massive) F owner's thread. That's the best community to ask: http://forum.notebookreview.com/son...io-f-series-i5-i7-owners-thread-part-4-a.html.

Thanks
All issues are acceptable and fixable except Screen viewing angle, the YouTube video can't picture the exact issue since it's taken by a camera.
I have Sony FW (1080p), and the screen is perfect, is VAIO F screen that bad?
I don't want to pay $1400 for a bad screen. -
My brother in law has an F11 with 1080p screen. In the short time I played around with it, I thought it looked great and was not at all disappointed. However, I come from laptops with very poor screens, and am not as picky as others I think when it comes to viewing angles, etc. I know for certain that the F11/F12 screen has better viewing angles than my Dell Inspiron.

I have 1080p F; screen is the one thing that would stop me from buying it again. Viewing angles are the worst of it. There is no viewing angle where you can see a color the same across the entire screen.
-
Did you try VAIO FW? does it have a better screen than F?
-
does the vaio f screen come with a wled screen or is it still a lcd? I just saw my friend play some games on his 1080p vaio f laptop (don't know if its FW - it has i7 and 330m) and the viewing angles were pretty bad. I had to literally be right behind him to see it properly.

The general consensus in the last couple of F series threads seems to be that the FW X-Brite screens were more or less the pinnacle of Sony notebook screens and even the highly regarded EU Premium 1080p screen on the F Series and the Premium 1080p screen on the Z series don't measure up.
This appears to be a general downward trend. Industry wide 16:10 is disappearing outside of business notebooks and as more companies offer budget conscious notebooks, the screen is unfortunately one of the first casualties. Region also has some influence as the premium display on the US F series is not the same screen as the EU premium display. For a start, its glossy and I haven't seen many people in the F series threads that were really happy with it. The EU premium screen is well liked though and notebookcheck rated it very highly. -
So what do you say? is it that annoying that stops buying it?
-
From whatever I have read about the US F11/12 full hd screens, if you are coming from a FW with the Xbrite full hd panel, then you will most likely be dissapointed.
But the EU/Asia screens are another story altogether. That screen is fantastic and arguably one of the(if not THE) best screen u cn get in the market today. -
With the US F12 model - disable the Sony auto, use Nvidia settings and recalibrate lowering the gamut and the screen improves the picture massively.
It feels sharper, not washed out, more HD like and the viewing angle is increased.
I prefer matt, but as glossy goes its a decent screen.
Please note, if you go with the European version - yes youll get matte (and a fake leather palmrest), but you will lose backlit keyboard and i7 840Qm Quadcore and more expensive too. Swings and roundabouts - it was easy for me, I went for the US version and havent looked back. -
Depends on what you use it for. For general productivity use and most games, it's fine. Just turn off the auto-brightness. But for movie watching, it's disappointing. The light bleed and viewing angle issues are really noticeable in dark scenes.
If you're handy, you could also transplant your FW screen into the F. I saw posts about that somewhere in one of the F owners lounge threads and I've thought about doing it myself. -
Or just wait until the F13 refresh at the end of this month. Apparently there will be two 1080p screen options available.
-
Good news, where did you read that?
-
Do you like it even with screen viewing angles issue?
-
I don't see the issue as being any more than on any other laptop.
-
I'd be interested in hearing the answer to this as well. I'm about ready to pull the trigger. I read in the LARGE F thread that there may be a release in October. This is based on previous releases in past years and the sonystyle Canadian site.

If you can it is almost always wise to wait...
If the F13 is an improvement, get that one (USB3?????????).
If there is not much improvement, maybe you can get a good deal on the then old model F12.
If neither you are screwed
What about VAIO F?
