Good luck finding someone to do your work. The whole list of Services can be found just merely Googling each one or perhaps finding yourself a Windows XP/7 Service tweak site that would more than likely explain what each service does.

    Here, http://www.blackviper.com/Windows_7/servicecfg.htm explain each service.

How can you study when someone is reading for you?

Yep, good luck! The link provided will tell you everything you need to know, but before you go tinkering, make a System Restore Point first!!

No need for that! I thought this site / forum was meant to help, not ridicule

I have been searching google for days now and yes I have found what some of them do, but Im no expert so have no idea what an event server, DCOM launcher, KTMRM, etc actually do or why they are needed.

Its all well and good reading that they are required, but why are they required and for which programs?

After I posted I did find some helpful info and removed a lot of the stuff (VIAO mainly), but I don’t think the info on the net is completely trustworthy - for example, I've read on one site that terminal services is needed, but then read on another that it isn’t and can lead to people hijacking my pc

Anyways, thank you for the link. I’ll check it out......and hopefully learn something :p

Without being mean, people want you to look at the list and learn what the services are before you turn them off.
FYIW, i will be going to do the same for the services and startup programs.

You haven't been ridiculed! You provided a massive list of services and I guess assumed someone was going to go through it explaining them all for you, even though some of them are self explanatory.

You have to admit dude, that WAS a pretty overwhelming list. 147 entries.

Plus, you gave us "Many Thanks" in advance. What possible incentive is there after that? ;)

If you don't know what they are, then leave them alone. There are a multitude of programs out there (Spybot, Hijack This) that will tell you if you have malicious software installed.
