    Hello everyone,

Thanks to this forum I recently got a SZ-450 (with anytime upgrade to Vista Ultimate)

I was wondering what Sony bloatware could be uninstalled without adversely affecting the system - I want to tweak performance as much as possible

So far it seems the list of candidates include: (From Control Panel)

    Click to DVD 2.6
    LAN setting utility
    OpenMG Secure Module
    Setting Utility Series
    Sonic Stage 4.2
Sonic Stage Mastering Studio (there are about 4 entries)
    Sony Synmsico for Vista
    Sony Videos Shared Library
    SupportSoft Assisted Service
    VAIO Central
    VAIO Entertainment Platform
    VAIO Event Service
VAIO Media (and its entourage of programs)
    VAIO OOBE
    VAIO Photo 2007
    VAIO Survey

I would like to clean up my system a bit, without adversely affecting performance/working components (I learned this the hardway on my previous Sony when I accidentally uninstalled the drivers for the audio card and the S1/S2 buttons  )

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks!

I agree. If you're planning to uninstall though, I'd suggest first deleting everything from the control panel and later on clearing all traces of the software from the registry with some registry-cleaning program. Also defragmenting the hard drive might help speeding up the system.
