I had to open up my Z11 today because the hinges had come off the LCD screen. This was a problem that had been building up over the last few weeks. Long story short, I was able to fix them. However, as is usual with me, I broke something else during the process.

Coming out of the right hinge is three cables - one gray, one white, and one black. The black and white ones connect to a card that has "GOBI" on it, which I assume has something to do with the GPS? Well, I accidentally ripped the black cord off the card - it actually connects with this small connector, so the black wire came out of it. However, nothing seems to be broken. My webcam works. The magnet sensor that turns the screen on and off works. The GPS works. The LCD works. The Wi-Fi works. (These are all things I think have something to do with the wiring that goes up into the LCD screen.) So how can everything still be functioning? Any theories my friends?

And oh my gosh, I don't know how many times I've had to open this laptop up to fix something. This must be the 12th time.

Oh, so since I don't use 3G, I don't need to worry about it? :p

they tend to work on a main and and aux aerial, so you snapped the main i think (black is usually main in my experience) and the aux will keep the signal working.

Wait, really? They have two cords in case one breaks? I finally got lucky for once?

^not so much in case one breaks as much as it's just an array of 2 antennae. Better performance in different conditions.

So, the wire unplugged and then you plugged it back in? Or the wire literally ripped off the board?

The wire has a little connector on the end that attaches to the board. The wire ripped away from the connector.
