Has anyone else noticed that the VGN-Z550 is now missing from Sony's site?

It is still being sold on Amazon for like $200 off MSRP.. Kind of weird for Sony to put a machine up for only a couple of days and then pull it before it even really gets shipping. What gives?

it seems really strange just to go away before they even really got to shipping, amazon has them in stock though.. it also seems like there were a few other models now missing too.. very very strange!

maybe they want to change the specs up. or maybe they found something wrong with the laptops...otherwise, why cancel so early?

what did the canceled ones have in common? what did they have compared to the still existing ones?

Seems like all the same components are available under CTO, just for a higher price tag because of the higher resolution screen..

It is weird though because the Z550 seemed to fill a void between the 530 and 570 well.. I am quite curious what happened here..

Z550N/B is still listed on Sony B2B web site.

Also, still on Sony Style if you go directly to the product page. It says "In stock. Estimated ship date: 09/05/2008". Alternate link.

Also, shows up on the VAIO comparison page, which you can get to from Z Series Buy Now page.

Sony is probably just trying to push certain models due to component availability, etc.
