What happens to us when Sony VAIO becomes VAIO soon? Are they going to continue support for existing and previous product lines? It's really sad that I couldn't purchase oem replaement battery from Sony.com for a 2 year old laptop because they don't have stock. Even though it is the same battery in current models.

then go to ebay to buy it.

I am not looking for the aftermarket battery, but the original one that ships with the notebooks. The one branded Sony uses high quality Japanese cells and is compatible with Vaio battery care function.

What happens? You are screwed.
Sony offered very poor support as it was, you think the new brand owners are going to care about your 2 year old laptop? -
I guess we're all screwed then? I'll start saving for a Thinkpad ASAP!

We have our forum at NotebookReview.com - much better support here than anything we ever got from Sony.
My laptop is now 4 years old, and I've never bothered to contact Sony even once. Mine's got switchable hybrid graphics, (a technology that has been abandoned by all players), and the old Sony drivers kept crashing on me. Thanks to nautis and Andrew08 (and the others that helped out) I'm able to use my laptop, and even move with new Windows releases through Windows 8 and currently on Windows 8.1 update 1. EVERYTHING is working, despite the flat statement from Sony that my laptop cannot be upgraded to anything above the Windows 7 it came with.
When my LCD broke (my own fault), the disassembly and LCD replacement guides here were all I needed, and helpful guys like lovelaptops had my back with advice and suggestions.

Amen to that! I've had so many issues solved here as well as helping others do the same. We Sony users need to stick together, now more than ever.

I'm not sure if you tried, but I would call their number instead of trusting their website. The stylus is no longer around for the newest laptops, so I called threatening to return my unopened Flip15. They "found" some in a warehouse, then wanted to charge me $136. At this point, I told them I'm just returning it, and it went down to $37.

They still say that they can only offer you recovery option and they don't support not just any other versions of Windows, including distributives of same Windows, but even no support for freshly installed OS, do they?
Sony is over for me since the first laptop. Who needs it at all? Maybe just audio-video editors who use their built-in programs. -
