Hi My new TZ has a VAIO pouch bought at local SonyStyle for $29.95+tax. I am pretty happy with it.

I'm planning to buy a TZ and get the leather case from Sony. But I am worried about when it is being transported in my bag... maybe too much pressure on the screen.

The screen can't get a lot of pressure while closed. It's so thin, so it will flex and stick to the body of the laptop itself. And it's a plastic screen so no easy cracks will occur.

But which leather case? They have 2 models don't they? The sleave one and the zip up one... As soon as my computer comes in I was going to go to sonystyle in the mall and look/buy one.

I ordered one of these today:

    http://www.pelican-case.com/1080-laptop-cases-by-pelican.html

I'm seriously paranoid about damaging my TZ. I paid so much for this damn thing and I absolutely love it, I'm just not prepared to take any risks. I want to be able to put the laptop in a backpack with textbooks and other things and not have to worry about it getting damaged, not so appropriate if you want to carry it around on it's own.

It's a little bit larger than I'd like, but it's quite slim. I was previously looking at pistol cases that were perfect in terms of length and width, but were all at least 4.5 inches thick.

If anyone's interested I'll take some photos when it arrives with the TZ in it.

I would love to see that.. but doesn't carring that big case take away from what you spent all that money for? To have a small notebook? You could have just gotten a bigger laptop that was built like a tank?

Is the TZ really that bad as far as breaking that easy?

so should I stay away from the Sony Sleeves because they are a wast of time and don't protect it at all?

    To answer your question John:

Yes the small size of the TZ is very important to me, but I never had any aspirations of carrying it around under my arm while I'm on a bus or walking around campus. With a protective case I can put it in my backpack and not worry about it, then when I want to use it, I take it out, and I enjoy the benefits of a laptop that I can easily use in any situation due to it's small weight and size. I don't think the benefits of small laptop are really so much about carrying it around, chances are you're carrying a bag that's significantly larger than the laptop anyway. For me it's more about the ease of use, not needing so much space to set the thing down, being able to rest it on one leg if need be, it's just so convinient and easy to handle. There are other reasons I bought the TZ as well, mainly for it's excellent battery life.

Of course people will have different opinions on this, it's a personal thing.

Also, given that high levels of protection are important to me, imagine how big the protective case would have to be if I had a full size laptop :) That case is still reasonably small.

The case is supposed to arrive tomorrow, I'll post pictures up as soon as I can.

OK I thought I was sold on the leather but now I see
    VGP-CKTZ3/B and VGPAMC6 :(
now would these be better than leather due to being kind of water prof? Also the first one I listed claims to have "VAIO Smart Protection™ absorbs shock from accidental bumps and falls." The second one has room to put in your plug and stuff to take with you. Does anyone have or have seen these cases? How is the cool factor over the leather ones? Also size are they bulky? I'm sorry to be a pain but I haven't gone to a sonystyle store to look (also reading some of you guys stuff on here sounds like it's a pain anyway) and I want to have a case as soon as my computer comes...
    Thanks guys
