I want to upgrade my CPU on my Sony Vaio VGN-FZ260E. What is the max speed I can upgrade to?
Current spec is T7250.
Thanks for the help

does it have the santa rosa chipset? (PM965)
I think you can get a T9500 in there. -

Yes I think that the best you can get is a 2.6ghz T9500:

Or if you want you can get a 2.5ghz T9300:

EDIT: The T9500 has been overclocked to 3.9ghz:

yes both are socket P.
But when you upgrade to the T9500 you are actually getting a penryn not a merom. Also it's 45nm so it runs cooler.
The only reason it wouldn't work is if your BIOS didn't support it.
That could be fixed with a BIOS update so make sure you have the latest BIOS before you upgrade. -
