    Hello everyone,
I saw this laptop online and am interested in it.

    http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11526891&whse=BC&Ne=5000001%204000000&eCat=BC|84|56670&N=4017745%204294967225&Mo=0&No=0&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&topnav=

Can anyone tell me the model or such that would let me know more about it? I looked on the website and besides what was shown on the website, I couldn't find anything more on this model.

    Thanks!

The exact model number for that is the VAIO VPC-EB13FX/BIC, as listed on the bottom of that web page. That is part of the VAIO E notebook series.

Is it an LED or LCD screen? I'm not sure from what all I've read.

It should be an LCD screen with regular CCFL lighting.

it's a costco edition sony vaio. It's an EB model which follows along with the E models on the website. No its not on the website due to the fact it's only for costco sales. It's nothing CRAZY but i can tell you it's not lower end. It's not as higher as other vaio's yes but i would say above average atleast! I mean come on now, for $799.99 you get intels newest i5 2.26Ghz processor i believer. Thats packing a good punch! Plus memory, 500GB? Thats pretty roomy! Also, the whole feel and look of it is pretty sexy. 4GB ram. It IS top of the line, even when it came to competitions. The only downside of this laptop if the 3.5 hour battery life and the integrated graphics. THATS IT! I'm actually going to pick one up tomorrow. BTW, being that it's costco, they upped the 1 yr warranty to 2 years. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

It's an LED back-lit LCD display at 1366x768 resolution. For that price, that's an AWESOME processor though. The only thing is it's got Intel's GMA HD graphics, which if you intend on playing ANY games is unacceptable. If you like this model it can be configured on SonyStyle with an ATi HD5470 which will handle basic-midrange gaming.

I disagree. The EB is more than enough to run popular games like the Sims, etc. Sure you can't expect to smoothly run a hardcore graphics-oriented game, but it's not like we're still in the year 2001 - mainstream laptops can run a lot of games.

No, it's not like we're still in the year 2001, so why would we want to run a game from 2000 like The Sims?

How about the most famous mainstream games from 2009?

    Batman: Arkham Asylum
    Dragon Age: Origins
    Assassin's Creed II
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Mainstream notebooks with something other that Intel GMA graphics. That's the ONE recent relevant game that the GMA can handle competently.

    Uh-huh...

Top 20 Selling PC Games for February 2010

My point was that there are tons of games besides the pop gamer category, and it's hyperbole to say NO games will run on a mainstream laptop like the Sony EB. I mentioned the Sims series because I'd wager that it is by far the most played game on laptops given it's mainstream following.

Just because a computer won't run COD doesn't mean it can't run ANY games.

LOL, why did this get so much into gaming. Haha, thats why we have 360's and ps3's. People have different needs but in my opinion i would want a laptop that has enough horsepower to be loading/watching a movie while not being slow trying to open up photoshop/powerpoints/internet/external usb devices.. With that processor it can get the job done. Not to mention its sleek looks and matte black finish. Looks and performance is top notch. I do agree on the integrated graphics though. I don't think i will be able to launch my nullDC emulator to play marvel vs. capcom 2 at a good speed :p . I'm leaving to pick it up right now. I'll be back :D

    hi,
i'm also considering picking this one up at costco. for those of you who already have, i am interested in hearing about the sound quality. a few reviews on the costco site and elsewhere have said that the sound is awful. if you've tested out playing songs or a movie can you rate the quality on a scale of 1-10 (10 is perfect). also, how is the quality for watching the movie? Any other flaws or problems that you are noting? and, is there any kind of program on it that allows for cutting and editing video clips (for say youtube)? thank you!

    Hi,
I'm curious how you like this model VAIO? I just picked one up but haven't opened it yet. I'm looking for a laptop that's portable, easy to use, and has enough power to run all MS Office apps, photoshop elements, burn CDs/DVDs and even burn (copy) non-HiDef movies, not all at the same time of course. I'm not a gamer. My 11 year old daughter might play some simple games, nothing heavy. Thanks in advance for the advice.

MAD DOG357: well, this computer packs enough power and more to handle multi-tasking. It will definitely take on simple games and the internet is pretty fast with it's i5 processor. It is pretty portable. 15.5 is bigger than most but its not too big not too small. Perfect for movies etc. Also, yes it does burn cd's etc. like a charm.
