I'm going through my add/remove list and seeing a LOT of junk. What do I need to keep?
EDIT: the title should say UNinstall

Why not fresh install?

Just faster is all.

I bought this cw with fresh start. All it has is vaio update, power management, smartwi utility, vaio care, vaio control center, vaio data restore tool, vaio dvd menu data, vaio event service
I think a few of those came with 1 installation file on the support site.
I'm glad I got it fresh start -

Look here at what to install from a clean Windows 7 install, then that will kinda give you some idea as to what you can uninstall.

going to have to say ignore the link XGX gave you since it seems your Sony CW26 is a i5 by searching google
what I recommend is if you clean install, 1 - install the sony video drivers (you have to use these), then just install the rest of the drivers. you dont need any of the sony software to make it run good. it just bogs the system down -

Which guide do you suggest?
I believe XGX2007 guide also work for Sony CW26 i5 because ann310's guide has the almost the same drivers/procedure and it worked for his Sony CW27.
CW26 vs CW27 = optical drive difference -

I have; the only thing that may not work are some function keys. but you dont need to install any sony apps to get your battery to work.
brightness controls arent needed with W7 let alone the monitor switch. thats what Win+p does; + or - is not worth running, and sleep takes just as fast as a mouse click -

Can we just get back on the topic?
I see the confusions started when you said the ff:
Regarding your guide, can you give a lil more details? (I might use it when mine arrives, if its better)
PS: Just trying to keep altecX on track
What should I NOT install on my new CW?
