I had the same question just a few days ago. But now i accept the fact that without the setup file of any of the vaio software i don't wanto bother to remove any of them. Becoz one question always haults me: " what if someday you have a whim to use it?"

So i quit trying to remove~ hehe, it's ok since your notebook is good enough to take it.

The best way for us to help you would be copy a print screen of your programs list from the control panel so that we can see exactly what they have put on your unit. From there, we can tell you what things are and make suggestions to you and then you can make the final decision on what goes and what stays. Aside from that, congrats on the purchase and I hope you enjoy you new VAIO!

If you don't want it to keep auto starting, you may enter the "service" page and change their startup type into manual instead of auto; take my own pc for example i modified vaio content metadata intelligent analyzing manager, all 3 starts with the name "vaio entertainment ....", as well all 3 starts with"vaio media plus".

Keep in mind, never disable it, just change it into manual!

ok that's a lot. You need the vaio power management, event and control, setting utility service...that's about it. (well that's all I have and want. I didn't uninstall everyone single one. I just did a clean install; a lot quicker imho.)
If you want, I can take a photo of the list of all my program if you want...I just don't know how to (if you can tell me how to take a screen shot of my comp, I'll show : P)

Thanks for the input Justwondering, as for taking screen shot its the "Prt Sc" button just above the "backspace" button then I go to paint and paste it there. When you mean clean install do you mean using the recovery disc/partition? If so wouldn't that restore all the Sony programs?

Thanks problem is I don't have a vista cd, yeah I've been following the vista tweak guide. I managed to remove around half of the Sony programs without it affecting any hardware, retrieved about 1.2 gigs :) Just a bit off topic is this forum under maintenance? Most of the time I get this "page unavailable contact admin" message.
