I can hardly believe how crappy the service is at sonystyle.com. First of all for the money I was going to spend on the vaio Z, you would think they would be able to get me one in less than a month!?

Hell, I can go to an apple store a drop a crap load of money and come out with a computer in an hour. To get the great vaio Z, with a custom build (since their prefabs are such stupid configurations) it takes forever!

Then I had some problems with customer service and got so sick of it I said - just give me the 15% discount or cancel my order, and they didn't even treat it like a decision, they responded with we put in a 'request' to cancel, but we send the order to the warehouse immediately in order to EXPEDITE your order so we don't cancel orders :).

When I got that email, I went to check my order status and it said it was being built and the ship date was an extra week from what it said originally! What the!? I wouldn't have threatened cancelling if I knew it would take a freaking month to get the computer to begin with (when ordering it says it will ship in a week). So now if it does get cancelled it would take two months if I reordered (which there is no way in hell I would do). What kind of crap is Sony trying to pull. Get some service to match those prices! I hate Apple so I won't be getting an Apple, but man Sonystyle.com almost made me mad enough to buy one!

    sonystyle customer service sucks. period.

Hoepfully everything will work out in your favor. As an owner of two Z's, I can tell you it, well it self-speaks; it's worth the wait!

That's the point. Part of the $$$ you pay for a Macbook goes into paying to have all those retail stores so you can "come out with a computer in an hour." It's built into the price. And if you want a custom build, you can forget it. They won't even let you change the battery. Do you want the laptop you want, or a laptop you can have today?

News flash: The people working in the Sony call center DON'T CARE. They don't care if you cancel your order. They don't care if you order 100 laptops. They get paid exactly the same whether you're uber satisfied or you never buy another Sony laptop as long as you live. And very likely, if you complain, they'll never get disciplined. That's the nature of these companies.

Ahhh... yeah, I feel a little better now. Still don't know if it's cancelled or not. It just changed from 'your vaio is being built' to 'payment processed', still has an estimated ship date of this coming Friday (4 days away). Whatever, if I get it then I get it. If I don't then I'll go buy something else - I'm not waiting another month :)

I can see how apple is raking in all the dough, I would certainly pay a premium for some good, wuick service. Oh well, every company has their own model. Sony's has nothing to do with service. And Apple just lies and 'spins' stories too much. Mindless Apple lemmings believe whatever Steve tells them (even if it changes 180 degrees from the month before).

Ahh the internet... the endless comlaintesphere. Feels good to whine, although it's so saturated with whining not much ever comes from it. Now I'm complaining about complaining.. geesh. I need a new laptop already!
