OK, so I just turned picked up my Z a few moments ago this morning and the screen is all jacked up. There are dark blue lines on the left hand side of the LCD, and it doesn't look like they're dead pixels/rows since they don't go all the way up, but I'm not exactly sure.

When I picked it up, it had restarted itself overnight. I've tried rebooting, etc but nothing is working. I'm not even sure if it's a hardware or software thing. Can anyone shed some light for me? This really sucks...

I've attached a couple pics of the issue

hard to tell, looks to me like it could be a cracked panel.

Make a screen shot. If it will show the same lines as your photograph(which it probably wont, because it looks like a damaged screen cable or maybe even a damaged panel) then you`ve got a software problem.
You can try to wipe the screen with a anti-static cloth anyway, static electricity sometimes does wird things to todays LCD panels.

So since the original post, I've lived with the issue - mostly because I was living abroad and getting my only computer fixed would have undoubtedly been a huge pain in the .

But anyways, I've learned something about the purple lines...they come and go. They appear and reappear in different places. The other week most of them went away. Then today I opened my laptop up on the plane and there were a lot more of these lines all over the place (see pictures). When I do a print screen, the lines don't appear. But if it was a hardware issue then why do the purple lines not stay that way?

Anyone have any ideas on how to get this fixed? I'm back in the states for 2 weeks so I thought it'd be much easier to attempt a fix here...

If the lines move then it could be the connector or the panel backplane. You could try reseating the connector. But it looks like you need a new panel to me.
