Take a look at the new FW refresh from Japan. It is VGN-FW81NS.

    http://www.vaio.sony.co.jp/Products/FW2/spec_vom2.html

    Use babelfish.altavista.com for English translation.

It has Radeon 3650 with HiColor screen at 1600. The US model only has ECO screen at 1600.

Now this is really pisses me off  I have just ordered FW190 CTO and now they have this? Does it mean that FW290 will come with HiColor at 1600 very soon or will it just be limited to Japanese market?

How come US Customers always get discriminated. We always get substandard features :(

In most cases, you get better features than EU though, if it makes you feel better? ;)

(I realise the better ATI card was available in Europe first, though - weird.)

I don't see any mention of HiColor in that page.

All current US 1600x900 are not HiColor? How strange...

Edit: Maybe it does, "クリアブラック" is ClearBlack.

Why the hate? Sony always has better specs and options in Japan. Japan generally gets everything, special colors, more flexible CTOs ... the rest of the world varies. The USA tends to get the second best options, and everyone else comes after that.

The thing is the previous Japanese FW series is exactly the same with US version, at least when it comes to video card and screen. So, when I looked at that, I thought the next refresh of Japanese FW series would be the same as the US version. But now the new refresh is better. If Sony US is going to follow, I hope they would do it within the next 30 days since I only have 30 days to return my FW from SonyStyle.

If only there is a site when people leak Sony roadmap with dates, I would be able to make better buying strategy. But now I rely on luck.
