Those short, flippant answers don't help forum members much except it does increase your post count, Phil.

calot, that's not bad at all. I only have about 6GB left after installing about 20 apps on a new TZ. A few tips: turn off Hibernate to eliminate that space hog. And once in a while, do a system restore, which will gain you 2-3GB each time.

Unfortunately, most bloatware is relatively small, so you have to delete a lot to see much improvement. My first TZ's Vista folder is 9.5GB, apps folder is 7.2GB, docs 3.6GB.

    Hope that helps. :)

I have an 8GB SDHC and it's very slow, but works well for things that don't need much updating, like an iTunes music folder. About $80 for the 8GB Transcend. Panasonic today announced that its 16GB SDHC would ship in November with a list price of $320.

Yes, I love Vista too. It has grown on me, and I don't think I want to regress to XP to gain four gigs. ;)

My TZ is sitting next to me deleting its recovery partition. If you are willing to go through a bit more work if/when you need to recover, then using an external HDD or some discs will free up another 7 GB.

It was a joke, I even tried to post only 'Vista', but that was not allowed.

And on a more serious note, Vista is a resource hog that takes a lot of harddrive space.

But I can get that some may not find it funny. Especially when they are running Vista themselves ;)

    Upgrade you mean :D

Some more oil for the fire:

    XP vs Vista performance:
    Problem Area 1: Menu Latency

Menu Latency remains one of the key culprits of User Interface Friction on Windows: the slight lag that Windows imposes when displaying menus and submenus may seem minimal, but these delays add up, and they certainly can make working with Windows Vista less fluid than with Windows XP or Mac OS X. On average, Windows Vista was 20% slower than Windows XP in the menu latency benchmarks conducted for the project.

But hey, they propably did not have Solid state drives in the benchmark.

I bought it in the sony style store in houston gelleria. Im in love with it. i dont want to change to xp. vista is cool. and its gonna get better with sp1. I just want to see if it could run a bit faster. will deleting the partition make it any faster? I have some programs running and lot of processes. im no computer whiz, but if you tell me which processes are unnecessary that would be awesome. thanks
