I play Team Fortress 2 on it if I am away from my gaming rig. Runs very smooth at 1600x900 on Speed mode.

I've got WCIII and WCIII:TFT on my laptop at maximum settings across the board and it works perfectly.

Probably going to install CS 1.6, CS:S, and TF2 later.

Anyone try any sim program like Flight Simulator X, Kuju's Rail Sim, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Sims 2? I just want to know what to expect with the 9300. I'm a simmer, what can I say.

I would bet that any of those would work just fine on the Z. In fact, I would think most of them would work plenty fast in Stamina mode. They don't look like GPU intensive games. Maybe FSX might need 3D but I would think it'd be fine with the 9300. ;)

Yeah, I would imagine some of the older sims like RCT2/3 and SC4 would work fine with the 4500MHD. It's the newer sims like FSX, Cities XL (SimCity-like program coming out in 2009) & MS Train Simulator 2 (2009) which would probably need the 9300 or better.

GTA San Andreas runs very well everything on high.
Warcraft 3 + The Frozen Throne too!
Farcry 2 on mid settings and 1024 resolution runs smooth.
Tomorrow I can report on GTA 4... omg can't wait any longer!

Just remember to take your power cord whenever you want to play, cause th processor is clocked down on battery automatically!

Takashi, is WoW playable at native or do you have to turn it lower?

Anyone play WoW with the higher rez or is that too much for the gpu?

Well... I tried both CS:S and TF2... max res low nearly everything... and got about 20-30 FPS, with CS:S being more playable.

I'm probably not going to play either considering my PC can hold about 100 FPS and 70 FPS respectively.

I didn't tweak anything other than video settings... so maybe that was an issue... however, I don't reccommend L4D on a Z...unless you really have to game on the go.

azureice55, what are your settings for TF2?

Thanks, great news about GTA:SA...unfortunately I believe that GTA 4 will not be playable, as it's based on Crisis engine (right?). Please post your results about actual playing soon :)

    Max resolution
    (but lowest setting)

But for WC3, it still runs after running at full HIGH setting
for the rest, i run it at lowest possible setting.

Not sure - whatever it defaulted too, but at 1600x900. I'm pretty sure I went in and looked and it was mostly set to high. The game looked great as usual.

Anyone played racing sims like Live for Speed, Richard Burns Rally or rFactor? Or used wheels? I'm not sure if it's common sense if they would work considering newer games are running pretty well on it? (this is my first computer that can run games, besides like StarCraft) Thanks!

I know it looked great... I tried it... but it felt like I was moving about half the speed I normally do on my PC.

    What's your FPS at?

In case you don't know how to check:
From the main menu --> options --> advanced button --> enable developer's console

Then press ~ to open the console window and type:
    fps_max 200
    net_graph 1

This now displays FPS, Ping, and a few other details in the bottom right corner.

When I played, I played on full res... but at mostly low settings (first half of the settings at low going from left to right, top to bottom), and at best I managed 30 FPS staring at a wall, and 15-20 FPS in combat with scouts basically being difficult to track and motions a little sluggish.

I did the same in CS:S, and pulled about the same FPS, but without the sluggish motions. :S

I was probably getting the same framerates, 15-30 fps. Not great, but it isn't a gaming machine. Enough to enjoy the game, that's for sure, it wasn't a big issue for me.

    o_O

Really? You can play at that FPS? I couldn't TF2 on it at all, probably because I'm too used to the speed I have on my desktop.

However, CS:S was running at the same FPS, but none of the motions felt sluggish like they did in TF2. Then again... I used to play TF2 on an Inspiron 6000 propped up at a 30 degree angle by the means of an old Nintendo DS box using a crappy wireless laptop mouse on a fairly low res and barely mustering 20 FPS standing still with an ATI mobility X300 with 128 MB of VRAM. >_>

I may reinstall TF2... tweak everything to maximize FPS... while I do have a desktop which clearly plays it much better... 50 lbs of computer/monitor/kb/mouse/speakers isn't always easy to lug around to every LAN... lol. :D

Installing GTA IV is a pain in the butt...
It takes forever, it installs secuROM, R* social club, then you have to install windows live games, then you have to update windows live games, then you have to create accounts, you have to log in to windows live to be able to save the game etc etc etc...

It is playable, mostly smooth, on 852x480, with everything tweaked a little...

But its a little disappointing to have it on the low resolution...

Otherwise its really nice, nice physics and nice video sequences etc...

I've been playing Richard Burns Rally the past couple days but it is a 3 year old game. :p I'm downloading the Live For Speed demo as I type, will be booting that up soon. :)
