    What's New for the FZ290 or FZ series in 08

    I just purchased a FZ290 with Blueray burner. Do you think they will offer any better LCD screens next year? Better video card? Anyone have any ideas? Just wonder if I should wait for any major changes?

    Same here. I'm looking to sell my laptop in exchange for a Sony Vaio. Don't play as many games, so I figured the Sony brand looked impressive. Perhaps some upcoming deals with the Vaio?

    First is Penryn on January 6th. Just a smaller cpu and maybe hard drive upgrades.

    Then near summer Montevina will come out and the FZ might get thinner along with the new processors and platform enhancements. By then Nvidia's 9 series might be out too and maybe the FZ will get an LED screen or options for an SSD (since Intel will be launching its own line of them, they might be cheaper).

    Then by the end of the year new rumors of a new Nehalem 15.4 inch will start.

    How about 5.1 surround sound output from the HDMI? Something tells me that you don't get any better than 2 channel audio from your HDMI port. BluRay with 2 channel audio...It's so disappointing. If you acually get more that 2 channel from your machine, I'd love to hear.

    since there seems to be much more change involved with upgrading the platform compared to upgrading the CPU, is it possible that sony will come out with a new 15.4" model along with the montevina platform in summer 08?
