    720p screen vs 900p HD+ screen
Magnesium 3.8 lb vs Carbon Fiber 3.7lb
Intel hd 4000 vs GT 640m LE dedicated gpu and as powerful as a ddr3 GT 650m after bios mod OC

    Not completely true...
You can order a S13 with 900p screen, but then you also have to select the GT 640M LE graphics. But it seems (not sure) that the 900p screen in the S13A/P (Premium) is of better type then S13.

So in principle it is mainly the used materials...

I just spoke to the rep, and he told me that the main difference is the case. Strangely enough, you can configure a non premium S13 to have the same specs as the premium S13 with the prices being identical. This leads me to believe that the casing itself is probably the main difference between the two. The benefit of getting the premium though, is that you are able to get an i7 core and above.

Also, wrt to the screen quality, no one has definitely compared the 900p screens on both S13 and S13p; although the 720p and 900p screens have been compared (720p was far worse). It is unlikely that Sony has gotten separate, cheaper 900p displays for the S13 and a better screen for the S13p since the cost of upgrading the S13 to the baseline S13p is exactly $100 (i.e. screen upgrade to 900p, dedicated 640M LE)

Not on the US Sony Style store, I cannot. If you can, please, please, let me know. In the US, they only have black and gold colors for the GT640m/900p setup. I want it in silver or white, but have been unable to find it here :(.

Unfortunately for you I'm from The Netherlands.
Seems that the European Sony has different shop options.

The "normal" S13 has a magnesium case. It feels a bit like plastic but it's metal.

The S13P has a CFRP case (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) except the part around the keyboard, which is magnesium. It's 0.1 inch thinner than the regular model and 0.1 lbs lighter.

If you're going to add the extra options to the normal S13, you may as well just get the S13P.

I'm looking at buying one to replace my old gaming rig, so I have been researching.

It also appears the Premium nVidia has 2GB VRAM vs 1GB on the standard. When I configure the system with the same components, the premium is only $15 more than the standard. $15 for the extra GB of video RAM; well worth it! While I don't actually want some of the default items included in the premium, I do want the extra video RAM.

Did I miss something, and the standard can also be configured with 2GB video?

I personnally like the premium better, as my dad bought a normal S13 in France and the case have a grainy rougher texture as well as the lid. the S13P i have though is all smooth texture everywhere. I'm not sure though if it's the same everywhere as i'm living in Singapore and I haven't noticed tht grainy texture until i saw my dad's one
