no santa rosa for sz yet, so no t7300 on sz5.

 

Any one know when SZ will release the Santa Rose? June? July?

There is no mention of SZ being released with SR.

 

But sony used to say something before the release? I think we will just know when they put at their website, can't we be surprised?

 

The SZ600 is coming later this summer with Santa Rosa. For sure.

 

Are you sure? Because this is what you said earlier:

This is just a wild guess, but maybe the CZ series will replace the SZ, although we don't have any info on that series (to be released in July). I'm not sure how much different the SR is from the old core 2 duo, and the Nvidia 7400 from the 8400, but it might not be possible to just replace them due space and ventilation. Which means: a new series.

Also, SZ, C and CZ seems like having a little too much 13.3" series now the CR (14") is also coming (in July).

 

The CZ won't replace the SZ. Sony has had an S line (much like a T line) for quite some time now. Whether it's the SZ5/SZ6, or Sx (where x is a new letter), it will be a S.

The C line has a different weight/design than the S series.

SR is pretty different, so SOny would need a new motherboard design. My guess is Sony feels the current performance of the SZ line is good enough to hold them until the SR version of the S line can be done properly.

 

Then forgive my mistype. It was meant to say SZ600. There are not going to be from what I know any SZ500's, but a skip to the SZ600's with Santa Rosa. I don't have more concrete information though on the graphics card they will be using unfortunately.

I agree with FenderP that we'll probably have a little longer wait for the SR or what ever replaces the SZ's. The SZ has been a great line for Sony and I can't see them switching until it's run it's course fully.

 

IMO the SZ series is getting old (tech). About 1.5 year is what the S series did, which was popular too. The S series had a nvidia 6400. The SZ has the 7400. So the rumoured SZnext has a 8400, with Santa Rosa, who knows.

I can't see why the CZ can't be the high end version of the C series. But we will see a SZnext series before the end of 2007, for sure.

 

And in 08 a new Montivena version!

ive yet to see another laptop with a switchable graphics switch. the current sz is still up to date, still popular, and still a great laptop. maybe at the end of this year/beginning of next year, they'll replace it. but i doubt anytime soon.
