When can we expect a price drop on the Sony SZ6 series?

Based on what happened with the TZ, you _may_ see some small price drops. But, that was only seen with the TZ because they released different models, and adjusted all the prices to fit in with those new models.

Considering the SZ was launched with, what I assume, all the different models that will be available, I don't think there will be any substantial price drop until the end of this year/start of next year.

    Oh, how very true. :D

I'm trying to get a sz680 for around $1800 total with 2.2/1/120. Thanks for the quick replies btw.

    that's exactly my config at Techonweb.com for $1720 + $80 international shipping.

I don't recommend them for international orders... they are so slow!

Yeah, I got that config too. It's the SZ680N03. I got mine from Euclid Computers. For something like 1826 shipped to Canada. They were pretty decent. I think I got it in around 1 week. Well I'm really happy with the system overall so far.

I don't expect any real price drops anytime soon, if you can get it for around 1800 I'd say you got a deal. The previous SZ models have never really sustantially gone down in price either from the window shopping I've done. Sony lappys tend to hold value a lot more than most of the other brands... that could be a good thing and a bad thing.

Well it sucks for anybody ordering now. SZ680 CTO price increased by 100 on Sony.com.

Funny huh. Intel drop their price and Sony decides to do the opposite.

From what you guys are saying SZ's really hold thier value!!!. what if I were to purchase the older model S series with the Nvidia 7 series GPU in it?? from what I've seen there just as expensive as the newer S series.

so I guess my variation of this question is when will the older S series models drop in value? mind you I'm talking to of the line "premium" old school :D
