I have been waiting for a long long time ....

I want to upgrade my SZ650 to SA and have noticed that the Z series are labelled sold out last week in sonystyle.com and are totally removed today.
But I still see no information about the SA series.

End of May early June. This was discussed a bit in the SA discussion thread.
It's already showing up at some retailers with a 2nd of June release date.

Anyone know what big differences the SA will have over the SB?

I'm assuming better screen, but what else? SSD?

    Higher res webcam
Carbon fibre reinforced plastics and AL.
Most likely lighter weight and possibly a bit thinner
    Different colour options

Rachel: Can you post some Retailer Links with the dates?
And btw, will it have the same look as SB and the same hinge?

    Sony VPCSA1X9E/XI VAIO 13.3" Notebook (Intel Core i7-2620M Processor,2.70GHz, 4GB RAM, 128GB HDD,DVD SuperMulti Drive,Genuine Windows 7 Professional)Black: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

    run a search on
    VPCSA1Z9E/XI.EC1
    and other variants
    VPC SA1Z9E/XI.NL3

Up until the SA was delayed due to the chassis problem the SA had the same design/hinge as the SB and i would still imagine that it will still be the same.

Than the currently available VPC-Z13series, yes.

Sandy Bridge CPU vs Arrandale CPU
ATI 6630 GPU vs nVidia GT 330 GPU.

But I'll be likely that the SA weighs slightly more than the Z

The specs are better than the current Z, yes. The display that waits to be seen but it looks like it have a vaio display plus display and the Z uses a Vaio premium display which is Sony's top end display. The Z also comes with a higher res display option cto or preconfig. I'm hoping but am doubtful that the SA may get a premium display as a cto option.

The upcoming Z will not have a built in gpu. For this you will need to use an external unit which will also house an optical drive. This external unit will bring the weight from about 2.5lbs to 4lbs and the SA is predicted to weigh about 3.2lbs, but that waits to be seen.

No doubt for some people the SA will be better and for some the Z will be based on their own needs.

I just want the SA to be out soon. I've narrowed my search down to the SA or depending on the specs the refreshed Envy14. Otherwise I'll just go with a cheaper option in the DM4x or DV4.
