Does the keyboard make impressions/marks on a Vaio glossy screen, usually? I know someone who has a TT or TZ, one of those really small ones, and it clearly has the keyboard key marks on there (lots of squares visible on the screen), but it was obvious this person wasn't really concerned. I've only had laptops with the matte screen, so those were unscratchable and I can wipe and gently scrub and gunk away. But, I found this online: http://www.shaggymac.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_5&products_id=33 - is there another place that sells something similar, lower cost, or maybe a store I can go to (around Orange County, CA).

    Thanks,
    - Eli

I agree- the 3M microfiber cloth is the best I've seen/used. I bought my current one at the grocery store, either Kroger or Ingles. It was under $4 and has been machine washed a few times already....still looks and works like new!

Thanks for the tip! Did you have to cut it to make it fit properly?

You don't have to have it. You put it across the keyboard when you close the lid, so if there's pressure on the screen, it (keyboard) won't rub against the screen.

    These are good: http://www.radtech.us/Products/Notebook/

To prevent keyboard marks on your screen.

Sony Z/TZ/TT/SZ have flexible screens that can easily touch the keyboard.

I use Windex on paper napkins. Wash my screen first, then on the keypads and the outside.

Then I wet another paper napkin and wipe everything off.

    Mine looks great.

In fact, of everyone in the office, my laptop is the most cleanest!

Repeat the same on my Z540.

You may want to be wary of Windex or other ammonia based cleaners as it may etch your screen.

After cleaning off with windex, get another new paper napkin and drip it with water and wipe if off again.

The windex is just used to get rid of the greasy fingerprint.

Can you think if anything better?

If you go and take a look at a real real computer monitor wipe that cost $1 per wipe, it smell just like windex.

Any non-ammonia cleaner will work, but most Windex/window cleaners contain the compound, so jut be careful.

I'm not sure. I thought SR may have a stiffer lid, making it harder to touch the keyboard?

But I would not risk it, I even use a 'keyboard protector' with my netbook. My keyboard protector is a piece of packaging material though.

Anyone tried this cloth of Shaggymac for the Z? Because it has the 13''3 option not the 13''1...I had a couple of years ago the 11''1 cloth for the TZ, great quality and protects nice the fragile screen of Vaio's.

They have the cloth dimensions on there, you can compare it to the surface area of your Z to see if it fits comfortably.

I assume that 3m microfiber referred to at target.com (in the link above) was for 4 cloths not just one for $16.99?? (Since I have seen them at other stores for about $4. each) I do not see where they state that........although there are 4 packages in the picture??
