I've looked EVERYWHERE in my computer and I can't find this AutoDim feature anywhere. My model number is VGN-SZ340P.
Can someone please help me with this simple question.

I think my NVidea control panel has been erased somehow.
It's not in the control panel area.

On the desktop, right mouse click, scroll to properties, tab to setting, click on advanced....

    Enjoy graphic card bliss :)

Dude, you have to look in the nVidia Control Panel.
On the left screen you have to click on Advanced.

After clicking "Advanced", I get the stuff on the right screen, as shown there.

If you have had a monitor plugged into your VGA port sometimes you can have trouble finding your nvidia/ati controls because windows was/is handling the multiple monitor mode. Try doing the same path on monitor #2 you might have changed your monitor priority. See how is says plug and play monitor? If you have a monitor plugged in unplug it and reboot.

    good luck :)

I don't have a monitor plugged in. It says Plug and Play Monitor. I think it's supposed to say that.

If tou right-klick onthe desktop, are you able to choose nVidia Control Panel?
If not, reinstall the driver from the SONY SUpport site.

Make sure you are running SPEED mode, not STAMINA.

Right click on the desktop and you should see NVidia Control Panel

No, I am unable to so this.
I've downloaded the nVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7400 Graphics Controller Driver downloaded from sony support. Do I need to uninstall the old (malfunctioning) driver before installing the new one?

    ...soon after...
I downloaded the new drivers. Tried to install the new drivers, but it won't install. Uninstalled the old drivers and THEN install the new drivers and it says that it won't install the new drivers b/c there's already a better driver installed. BUT when I went to right click on the desktop, I now see the NVidia Control Panel option now. So the installation attempt DID do something. Anyways, all is well now.

I think it's the hibernation & sleep functions that messes with the brightness function. I noticed that after my "installing" the new drivers, the sleep & hibernation functions were grayed-out and not showing when I went to restart my computer.

Thanks to all who helped. Much appreciation.
