    Hey guys,

Since I live in europe, we only get SR with the 2.26ghz CPU here, but I want the 2.8ghz one. Therefore I am considering buying my SR from Japan, or alternatively the US, though I wouldnt mind a japanese keyboard anyway since I'm studying Japanese.

    So...
I know conics and pricejapan sells the Z but not the SR. Anyone knows where I can buy the SR from japan?

PriceJapan will sell you everything. Email them a detailed configuration of what you want.

You can configure yours at Sony.jp or use one of the Japanese price comparison sites.

Conics may also sell you a custom SR from Sony.jp

I expect US to be cheaper.

    Thanks for your reply!

I didnt know that about pricejapan, might send them an email in that case.

About getting a US one, any place you know where I can custom build my SR?

    Cheers :)

Are you sure it's worth the increased price to buy from Japan? If you have the money and would like a Japanese model, you might try buying from a company that specializes in ordering from Japanese stores and then sending the product to you. I personally use Crescent Shop to buy Japanese DVDs. Probably not the cheapest place around and some have complained about them being a bit slow, but good, personalized service that I enjoy.

The only place that sells custom build Sony SR in US is Sonystyle.com

They do not ship to Europe. But you can find someone to order it for you and send it to you.

This can be a professional/agency or one of our forum members. I know someone who was willing to do this for a fee. Send me a PM if you want me to ask him.

If you send an email to Brett at Conics I am sure he will source one for you.

I bet that if you order it from PortableOne(all sorts of configurations and some customization) they will ship it wherever. Don't forget that you will not be able to use your warranty anywhere but the US or Japan if you purchase it there. So if something goes wrong, you will have to ship it to america or japan... so i would consider doing some more searching...

Sony Europe definatly has other configurations other than 2.26ghz...

Currently at www.sonystyle.co.uk I can't see any other SR's than the 2.26ghz ones... But I guess that within time they might refresh with new models.

But yeah, the warranty is the only thing really holding me back, especially when buying such an expensive piece of hardware. I am going to move to japan next year in October though so i guess it wouldnt hurt if I got a Japanese model.

Either that or I can wait and buy a Japanese SR next year when Calpella is out
