I had one of these awhile back for my MacBook Air. I did not purchase it, but found it extremely convenient to have for protection and cleaning the screen.

Is there one floating around for the Z you would suggest?

    Thanks in advance!

    Check out shaggymac.com
I have one for my Vaio P and had them custom cut me a microfiber cloth for it. You can get them to custom cut one for your Z as well, it'll probably run ~$15.

And just a neat trick. If you do plan on ordering from them, give them all your dimensions, etc. and add it to your cart. However, don't pay for the item yet. Just let it sit in your car. Within 24 hours, they'll send you an email with an offer for 10% off your order since they notice something in your cart and you haven't paid yet.

Yup, that was the name! Thanks for the time and tip!

Do you think it will even stay in the Z while closed as it is not a sealed closed fit like the Mac?

Yes. There's something called friction. The Z's keyboard keys are very close to the screen when closed (and that's the reason why multiple people have screen marks caused by the keyboard and palmrest). Any cloth will sit there to be honest.

Some people have the kb hitting the screen issue. FWIW, I don't.

You could get a 13" MBP and cut one side by yourself (I recommend this way, as it'll have the Radtech logo and round corners), or you could choose exact dimensions and they'll cut it for you (that's without logo and with sharp corners though)...

Hm, I wonder if getting the "standard pc 12-13.8" screen protector would be good. When you cut yours, I'm assuming you cut the top part of it then? Also, are you using a keyboard protector Metsn? Doesn't it push everything closer to the screen if you do?

Exactly, I usually cut just the top part.

    I don't use keyboard protector.

I use the cleaning cloth from a pair of glasses. It's really only the center of the keyboard that hits the screen. The edges are pretty well supported. The glasses cloth covers the center just fine.

I think your Z will come with a VAIO cloth for putting between your screen and keyboard.

The best for me from Radtech is the custom one. Just measure and it is perfect!

Not all of the Z come with a cloth. Mine didn't come with one.

Ah... do you mean they one they use for shipping? That's not something I would use everyday. Other than that, I didn't get a cloth with any of my Zs.

    Width 12 3/8 in
    Depth 7 1/2 in

Above are the dimensions I got from shaggymac for my first generation Z (VGN-Z590), which fit perfectly. I am pretty the overall size never changed so it should fit the Z13 as well. However, you might want to double check the measurements to make sure.

I've also owned a Radtech for my other computer and I couldn't tell a difference. Both are great for protecting the screen from keyboard and/or simple wipe downs.

Radtech ScreenSavrz black, Custom Cut to 31.1 x 19.1 cm:

It horizontally covers the entire keyboard plus the rubber bars at the side (avoids wear marks at the display bezel) and vertically goes from the lower edge of the hinge cutout (between SPEED and STAMINA LEDs) until the front edge of the laptop (avoids wear marks of the display bezel's upper plastic edge on the palmrest). With the lid closed, it perfectly lines up with the laptops edges.

I am very happy with this great product, it came precut very precisely, I always have it in my laptop when carrying it around, this black looks nice and fits perfectly to the Z's design. I also use it to clean my screen and as a mousepad on reflective surfaces. It 100% effectively prevents key marks and oil getting on the screen. I payed 20$ shipped to Germany.

Perfect! Just ordered one and asked for it to be without logo, wording or advertisement.

Thanks for sharing that with us. The dimensions are valuable information to those of us thinking about purchasing something like this.
