I looked at DVDIdle.com and they say that "NOTE: DVD-RAM, Mat****a XX-8xxx, SW-9xxx series DVD drives, and Torisan DRD-Uxxx series DVD drives are not supported now, and there is no plan to support them. But you can watch and copy CSS encrypted DVD movies when the drive region and disc region is matched on these DVD drives.", which is a shame.

... or use AnyDvd.

No, AnyDVD neither works. Tried installing it. These Matsuies are ********.
I looked on www.rpc1.com for some new firmware for the DVD player but could not see the SZ model. Closest was the 832S, not D. -
Try a combination of DVD43and VideoLanClient... Supposedly works on some Matsu****a drives. Do let us know if it works!

Well I have tried
DVD X Player V3
DVD X Player V4
DVDIdle.Pro.v5.9.7.9 With WINDVD 7
DVD43 with WINDVD 7
And so far all I have managed to do is decrease my Count by 1 and change the Regional code through WINdvd (which I did not even know that I did). -
It is not possible and I doubt it will ever be.
Reading much of rpc1.org forums and sidestepping arogant answers from resident people/moderators there, I managed to find one informative post, which is not stickied (and it should be). The point is:
Patching firmware is tricky business and often requires hit & miss tries. Which naturally lead to bricked drives. However, most drives allow forced flash, when firmware is blindly written to the drive and it can be used to reset the drive to known, original working firmware. Matshita drives do not offer such option, thus making RPC-1 firmwares for them would require load of drives for testing and thus much wasted money.
The reason they are not working with any software solution is because the drive does no offer any backdoor. All software solutions depend on drive allowing access to some parts of the DVD disk which are not encrypted or have weeker compression, which allows AnyDVD and other such sw to circumvent entire RPC-2 protection. (not sure is this correct interpretation but it is something in that spirit). Again, Matshita does not allow any such thing - no joy.
Do not even bother to try the software solution, too much hassle (I tried them all, none works). Better solution is to look for some possible other drive that can fit into SZ and that allows RPC-1 patching. When I find that and install it, I will ritually torch and destroy the piece of **** called Matshita UJ-832D. -
Is not the 832 a super slim 9.5mm height drive which means only another Matshita drive will fit?
Which DVD s/w can one unlock Ma****a uj-832d that comes with SZ?
