I have been reading a lot of reviews and threads in my search for a new notebook. Currently, I am almost 100% sure my new notebook just has to be a Sony VAIO, particularly because of its designs and presumably superb display quality.
The big question now however is, which model? There is so many choice... Could you advise me here? Thanks a lot in advance!
I will primarily be using the notebook for my study. I do some webdesigning as well and I download some stuff now and then, particularly movies. I want to be able to watch those movies on the Notebook, as well as on a television via the notebook. Budget is upto €1500, but could be extended to €2000 for the notebook of my dreams.![]()
I prefer my notebook to be not too big (15,4" max, but if possible without loosing too much on the specs, maybe even a little smaller I think). Currently I have got a 15" 1024x768 "standard" screen notebook (it's a HP compaq nx5000), and I feel my new notebook shouldn't be (any/much) bigger than that. That's why I am currently doubting whether 15,4" screens would maybe already be too big... However, since lots of the notebooks come with a 15,4" screen, I am not sure. I don't want to turn down those 15,4" notebooks that in many cases have superior specs (e.g. concerning display technology) to their smaller sisters.
Finally, in a few keywords what I feel is important:
- power/speed (I want the notebook to be (really) fast. (Heavy) multitasking shouldn't be a problem.)
- screen/display quality (I want a good screen quality, that's also why I am inclided towards VAIO models. Yet, also battery life should be taken into account here. Maybe a VAIO with the Sony X-brite ECO (instead of X-brite HiColor)technology is a solution?)
- size (the notebook should not be much bigger than my current HP Compaq nx5000, if bigger at all. It has to be well portable (17" is simply out of the question), but probably not extremely portable like 13" or even 11"),
- weight (again, because it should be portable. I am not sure what's normal here, but I think over 3kg is simply too heavy, right?)
- battery life (preferably over 3 hours (if necessary, using optimized settings))
- ergonomics (not that I mean the notebook should be the top ergonomic notebook, but more that it should definately not be a bad notebook concerning ergonomics.
