Hi
I've been looking to buy a Vaio and have narrowed it down to these two.
Sony VAIO FW21 L
and
Sony VAIO AR71 M
I'm going to mainly use it for web browsing and typing up documents. But will occasionally watch the odd movie and play a game.
I can get the FW for around £100 ($150) cheaper than the AR, so is the AR worth the extra money?
Also I want one that looks good too. From the pics the FW looks nicer...anyone seen them both in the flesh?
Lastly, my budget is around £650, any other Vaio's in this price range that are better than my two pics.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone? Help please?!

hi mate,
i just got the FW21L and as it is my first laptop im pretty impressed with it so far. Got it for £579 in Currys. Its pretty sturdy and it runs all office stuff effortlessly. Gaming isnt too bad (ATI 3470) if you lower the res a bit and lower a few details. Havent tried the Blu-Ray out yet but will do soon. Only bad point for me is the speakers , they are a bit tinny.
That other laptop looks good too, id say its close one between the two.
Hope that was some sort of help to you. -
the fw definately looks better than the fw, I'm not sure if the AR even has a metal body. the FW is a newer model than the AR, I would get it. have a look at them in a shop.

I would recommend checking the screen specifications first and foremost. Definitely take the one with the dual lamp. I have been very disappointed with the single lamp eco screen on my FW.
Also, the AR is heavier and bulkier, but seems more sturdy, especially in the hinges area. -
The FW does not have a metal body, except the lid and speaker cover, the rest is plastic.

that's what I meant. "metal body" except the plastic underpart. does the AR have this?
Which Vaio? AR71M or FW21L
