hey guys:
I'm about to buy a Vaio Z CTO from sony style and wondering which color you guys think is best. My initial thoughts were to go with the silver since the black keys seemed to stand out really nicely. Also, my last gen Z was Prem.Carbon Fiber Black, so Silver would be a nice change..but I want to know if you guys think differently.
Thanks!

Meh, black for me. I could deal with some other dark color choices if I had to, but I really don't like silver for most electronics.
-
Metal Shield... However it's not being offered in the US just yet

And it probably will not be in the future as well. Anyway I'm disappointed they didn't offer any black versions with some kind of plastic pattern like in case of previous Z.

You can get it elsewhere

I would suspect a strong possibility that it may eventually arrive in the US. The current Z colors are already selling well. All of the pre-built systems are on backorder right now, including the Metal Mosaic. There were a few refurbished VPC-Z's in the outlet section, which have disappeared. The Vaio Z is a huge hit for Sony. I can see why also... Good quality, Sexy, and nothing like it on the market

I just put more pictures of the Metal Shield version here, in case anybody is interested.

I like the Prem.Carbon, all VAIO Z I bought are Prem.Carbon.
-
I like the Metal Shield design.
Hopefully, in the next refresh, Sony will give us that option in U.S. CTO configurations.

I would like to buy vaio z but im not sure what is better black or premium carbon. Where i could see pictures? And waht is difference? Is carbon more light or it just looks solid or somethink else?
-
Black doesn't have the fine lines that can be seen in the premium carbon.
-
How is the carbon premium design put on the lid - paint or sticker? Is it more prone to scratching than the normal black design lid?
-
I prefer the glossy carbon fiber. It looks hot. I know it's a finger print magnet, but I could always put an Invisible shield on it to protect it and just wipe it clean at the end of the day.
The metal shield looks like a sticker, a bit tacky.
The regular carbon also looks, so will the regular metal. But Im worried about the metal scratching too easily. -
At first when looking at pictures I preferred non-glossy prem carb fiber, but once I saw them in person the Metal Mosaic was my favorite. I don't care for the anodized black aluminum because its more dark greyish as the black plastic keys stand out a significantly darker. I thought the silver/black contrast was much nicer looking in person.
-
I really like the Metal Mosaic on the new Z. However, I'm rather unhappy about the specs. I wish it could be maxed out.

I considered metal mosaic, but it seems like it might be too flashy for taking out in public, eg. higher risk of having it stolen. I ended up going with silver, which i'm loving so far.
-
Is it normal for Sony to charge extra for their carbon models? I would have guessed a premium for the silver.
-
in the end i went with the Silver..since my old Z was prem.c.fiber which I liked but the black keys really stood out nicely when paired with the silver body.
-
I generally prefer black for computers/electronics.

Hi to everyone!
After a so long carrier in to Apple devices, I conviced myself to be proud owner of a Z glossy carbon one... Just have to wait for my I-7, 512 GB SSD, 8 GB Ram new brand one... -
I opted for silver and I like it.

I notice my Metal Mosaic gets looks while at the library. I never let my laptops out of my sight so I am very OK with it and like the design.

Oh, and my favorite color (as you can see from my signature) is the Metal Mosaic. I originally bought it solely because it was the best price/feature match - and just tolerated the color - but I've really grown to love the Metal Mosaic. It actually changes it's "look" depending on the angle you view it from, which is pretty cool.
Which Vaio Z color do you like the most?
